Event Manager

Job Brief

Winefest is seeking a full-time Event Manager to assist in the planning and execution of our events throughout the year. The ideal candidate has a flexible schedule, is organized, enthusiastic, personable, creative, fun, energetic, and the ability to handle multiple priorities

Responsibilities

  • Assist and support Executive Director in planning multiple events from start to finish, within a short period of time
  • Generate new Ideas and suggestions to provide top notch experience for event attendees
  • Source and negotiate with vendors and suppliers
  • Coordinate operations
  • Assist in supervising staff
  • Ensure event is completed smoothly and quickly resolve any problems that might occur
  • Organize and recruit volunteers
  • Support the efforts of the Board
  • Prospect and research sponsors and donors
  • Assist in marketing including, but not limited to, newsletters, advertisements, social media and website
  • Maintain budgets for events
  • Analyze the event’s success and prepare reports

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an event manager
  • Skilled in project management
  • Computer savvy; proficient in MS Office
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation ability
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills
  • A knack for problem-solving
  • Customer-service orientation
  • A team player with leadership and interpersonal skills
  • BSc/BA in PR, marketing, hospitality management or related field is preferred

Commitment: Full-time, some nights and weekends required, events throughout the year

Compensation: Salaried – $38,000-41,000+ bonus structure

Event Assistant Intern

The Des Moines Wine Festival Foundation is seeking an intern for January 2022 through June 2022, with the possibility of continuing through September. The event assistant will work with the entire event team to execute events throughout the spring and summer.

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Recruit, organize and communicate with more than 100 volunteers
  • Recruit and communicate with prospective wineries, breweries and food vendors
  • Manage licensing for participating vendors
  • Update website and other digital communications
  • Design collateral pieces for festival attendees, vendors, sponsors & patrons
  • Serve as a liaison for sponsors and patrons regarding their benefits

The qualified applicant will be detail-oriented, quick-thinking and able to retain a positive attitude under stressful situations. Strong writing skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office are required. Experience in inDesign and Photoshop are a plus.

Commitment: 10 – 15 hours per week; additional hours required for events.
