Winefest began as the brainchild of Connie Wimer and Frank Fogerty. While visiting their home in Florida, Connie and Frank attended the Florida Winefest in Sarasota. After this wonderful experience, Connie was determined to bring a similar event to Des Moines. The Des Moines Wine Festival Foundation was formed as a non-profit corporation. Since its inception in 2003, Winefest has grown into one of Des Moines’ most beloved events. In the course of its 7-year existence Winefest has raised $320,000 for local charities and cultural organizations. Our 2009 events will celebrate our eighth year in existence.
Winefest is a non-profit organization and will be donating their 2010 proceeds to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
Winefest is an event beloved by the community that continues to grow and enhance economic vitality and the quality of life in our community.
Winefest educates its attendees by introducing new wine and culinary experiences.
