Since its inception in 2003, Winefest has grown from a two-day event to four days celebrating fine food and fine wine with both free and ticketed events throughout the metro area. Winefest Des Moines affords our guest vintners and representatives the opportunity to increase their presence in Iowa's growing marketplace, as well as to enjoy the warm hospitality of its residents.
This year's event is designed to increase that exposure with events such as a free Vino in the Village events in the city's eclectic East Village, as well as Sips and the City-a testing experience directed at young urban professionals and emerging wine consumers.
Iowa is a state with a rapidly evolving wine industry. Five years ago, Iowa had 13 wineries; now Iowa has 51 wineries and scores of other Iowans are interested in producing wine commercially. This increased awareness creates tremendous opportunity for wine distribution from out of state winemakers.
